I think everyone goes through rough times, some with out of the ordinary circumstances, and for me (as well as a gazillion other Jack’s fans), SWIM* got me through it.

I went through some hard times last year so when Andrew McMahon headed down to Australia on his solo An Evening With… tour earlier this year, I got him to write out this line on an envelope for me. When one of my closest friends (who lives in another country) came down to my city this summer, we both spent a day getting tattooed.

This band is my life. The song “Swim” has gotten me through so much, I become an emotional wreck just thinking about it. I’m so happy with the tattoo. I got it on my right rib, and it was my first tattoo, too. It was written in Andrew’s handwriting. The tattoo is extremely close to my heart, and it reminds me everyday to “Swim for brighter days, despite the absence of sun”, and to keep my head above.
